Take our recent work at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto. This client gave us a very specific brief on wall protection. Since many of its clients are prone to repetitive or compulsive behaviours, the wall protection used had to be resistant to picking – and in the event that a client did pick a piece off, it was crucial that this not be sharp or dangerous in any way. We solved the problem by attaching the wall protection using an epoxy-based caulk that eliminated gaps or joins where the product meets the wall. On this project we also created a sample area where the client could view all the proposed finished to ensure they met with their aesthetic goals in terms of creating a holistic and non-institutional environment to support recovery.
